Another way to discover topics that might grow into an essay is to write a free association piece. Pick a topic or a common object and write that topic in your first line. Then write the first thing that comes into your mind. And then write the next thing to come into your mind until you have written at least fifteen sentences. Do not think too much about this. Just write quickly, freely associating one idea with the next. Aim to be entertaining.

Travel
Travelling is fun. It's really cool to see new places. I really want to go to every continent. Even Antarctica. Antarctica is very cold. There are too many interesting things to see in this world. Why must travelling be so expensive? Especially as a teenager. We have very little money. It's less expensive if you know people around the world. I know somebody in Amsterdam, Hamburg, Southern Germany, Switzerland, and France. It is also cool to stay in Hostels. They are a cheap way to spend the night. I stayed at a hostel in a castle once. To put the cover on the comforter at hostels, there is a really cool trick that you have to do. My friend who goes to Bothell taught me it. We went on a 3 week exchange program to Germany this past summer. It was through Antley and the Bothell german teacher. 23 kids between the two schools went. It was a really fun way to travel. With a big group of people, but still staying at completely different places. All ways of travel are fun. Except with a big group of people who travel in a bus and stay at hotels. Hotels don't give you the full cultural experience.

Pumpkins are rad. You could even call some "plumpkins" because pumpkins can be considered large. I love pumpkins. The bigger the better. You can carve a pumpkin. You can't do that with many other fruits! Pumpkins can also be made into lovely baked and cooked foods. Fall is the best time to eat. People need to beef up for winter hibernation. No shame because no one will see your bikini body in autumn. There is freedom when it comes to pumpkins. Pumpkins tie into Halloween because, in order to eat a pumpkin, you have to grab its guts. Ew. I don't think about their gnarly guts when I eat pumpkin cookies.

Folding the pieces, mountain and valley folds. Using reference files to line up tabs with the right edges. Gluing the tabs to the right edges. Using the toothpick to get those small nooks and crannies. Building the completed parts together. Gluing together the parts, get frustrated when it doesn’t stand on its own. Quickly finding pennies to put as the weight. Staring intently from all angles, to see it doesn’t fall over. Knowing it’s done, taking a deep, satisfying breath. Salt
Salt has so many different uses. Salt is so good. It makes everything taste better. Yet it's not very good for us in high quantities. You can put salt on chicken. You can put salt on a sandwich. Also, you can put salt on mashed potatoes. Salt is a naturally occurring thing in the world, yet it's bad for our health if we eat it on things too often. Salt is in a lot of processed foods, which many people tend to eat a lot of, and it's fattening. Salt just tastes so good, someone could be eating something that tastes awful, yet they just sprinkle some salt on and it seems like it makes it taste 5x better.I like salty foods, way more than sugary foods. Salt is a little bit healthier in my mind than sugar. Salt is a great thing to add to all recipes for flavor. Salt is so good on Thanksgiving turkey. Salt is really good.

Hanging red cloth. Up the curtains raise. Entering, stage left. Dancers hiding in masks. Emotions conveyed through songs. All just in the first act. An uneventful intermission. The show's not over yet. Here we return to the story. Right where we left off in suspense. The plot thickens more than before. Tears are shed as things become grim. One stroke of luck saves the day. All scripted of course. Not that the audience could tell while captivated in the moment. The masked musicians bow. The audience roars in applause. Down the curtains fall.

ReplyDeleteAnts are probably the best specie there ever was. First of all, they are little all-terrain armored tanks with huge pliers for mouths, walking on walls and ceilings and building underground bunkers. Second, there are hundreds or thousands of them in one home. Billions or beyond around the world. Third, they are mindless minions doing literally everything for their one leader, the queen. And they are tiny. My plan for world domination: learn to become the ant king. Make large ants, at least the size of a Bernese mountain dog. Rule the world. At that size, ants could tear down buildings, be bulletproof with all that natural body armor, and be unstoppable. Ants have no sense of self preservation. They will make their body become part of a ladder for their entire life if it helps benefit the whole tribe or nest or whatever. It is the ultimate form of a dictatorship.

Everyone listens to music. Whoever doesn't listen to music is probably weird. People hear music in the car or on the way somewhere. You can hear music playing in stores or the mall. You can be walking somewhere and hear live music or music from a house nearby being played. For a majority of people, music is their life. They listen to music anytime they can. People can discover new music everyday. From rap to pop to hip hop to rock to metal. There are so many genres that there's something new to listen to everyday. There are artists and bands that go on tour to play music. Live music makes people appreciate the band or artist more. People can experience things from music. It'll affect their feelings and emotion. It can range from making people be sad or happy and cheery.

Drama is seriously my life. I know a lot of people don't necessarily like us drama kids. I've heard people say we're weird and too cocky. Yes, some are very narcissistic. But, a lot of us very good people and fun and we are always there for each other. I practically live in the drama room. I'm always in there working on something for shows. If you ever need to know where I am your best bet would to look in room 405. Everyone in drama is like a sibling to me. We are one big family. When I graduate from WHS in June I am going to miss my second family so much. They mean the world to me. It's weird to think about all this I have right now will not always be around. I always try to encourage people to join theatre. A lot of people are against the idea but it's not what they think. Whenever someone joins the drama department they become a part of a big family, and most come back year after year.

The center of my life. Raised me to how I am today. The people who understand me most, and support me the most. Share meals and stories every night, a time best to wind down after a long day. Someone to say "goodnight" to every night, right before turning off the light. They come to all my sporting events, I know I'll always have support. My older brother Chad, I've missed not having home, but each time I get to be with him is the new best time we've had. My Mom is a super woman, always helping others while making time for the family. My Dad, who puts a smile on my face every day cracking jokes right and left, has given me a base since I was born. My cousins who I am very close to, I am fortunate enough to see them frequently and spend our Summers on the water at the cabin. My Grandparents, close in heart but only a plane ride away. My Grandma taught me how to swim, and how to love and appreciate my family. I always need to be at home at the end of the night, I can't stand to not see my parents before I go to bed. And every morning, I wake up to a bubbly and happy environment to start off each day. Everyday I look forward to being with my family, without them, I wouldn't be who I am today.

Flowers
Flowers can range from millions of different colors. None are exactly the same color or exactly the same shape. They are very similar to snowflakes in that way. However they are like the snowflakes of summer and spring. And leafs and the snowflakes of fall. Flowers can be used to bring life and brightness to a room. They also remind us that very beautiful things can come from just a tiny little brown seed. Flowers are an aspect of nature’s personality; bright, exciting, and always changing. Flowers give purpose to bees and gardeners and they also give life to slugs, snails, and other animals. Flowers can be used to decorate while dead or alive. Alive the flowers bring life to a room, while dead, if a flower is properly dried; it can show beauty in the so-called ugly. Flowers can also be used in clothing. They can be worn as bracelets, crowns, and common accessories in braids. Flowers are sold and traded, the most beautiful flowers can be found in Pikes Place. I always make sure I have flowers in my room.

Ah, a topic almost everyone can agree that they absolutely love; music. It seems so simple, and yet it's so complicated. There's so many genres, how can you love just one? Simple: you can't. There's so many wonderful bands I've never heard about, and that makes me feel excited. I love the idea of discovering new music and singers and falling in love with what they have to offer. If I wasn't tone deaf, I think it would be completely awesome to get paid loads of money while singing to crowds of thousands. I'd love to see people smiling and singing along. Doesn't that seem extremely gnarly? Concerts are one of the coolest things to go to. My dad thinks they're pointless and that you could just buy their song for $1.29 and listen to it. What he doesn't understand is that it's just a completely different song when performed live. It's absolutely amazing. My favorite type of concert is the type where it's in a smaller venue, so you're more up close and personal with the band. If I ever hear about a singer I like coming up to Seattle, I always try my best to buy tickets. I don't think I could live without concerts. I'm kind of a music junkie, so I would do anything to see my favorite artists live!

College
One of the most stressful aspects in a teenagers life. The fear of not getting accepted is constantly on my mind. My G.P.A and SAT scores may not be sufficient enough for my dream college. Just after I graduate high school, there's even more school? Where do I want to go? What do I want to be? Too many options to make a decision. Afraid to leave everything behind but excited for new experiences and opportunities. My brother, who gives advice on what to look for in a school and things to avoid. My parents, who constantly ask if I'm missing application deadlines. Emails and letters, that you would think would be encouraging but only add on more stress. Tuition that you wonder how anyone could afford, but still succumb to. Deciding on a career that I am both interested in and will provide a wealthy income. I am eager for the future, but the stress of finding the perfect college can be too much to handle at times. Once I begin to receive acceptance letters in the mail, the stress will fade away and be replaced by excitement for what is ahead.

When I was younger my one wish was to be a fish more than anything. Then I could stay underwater in its peaceful embrace. The slight pressure in my ears. The weightless feeling. It always reminded me of flying, no need to touch the ground. I would watch as the bubbles, thin little ellipses would race to the surface. Over time I learned to lay on my back and blow bubble rings that would slowly widen as they got closer to the surface. The sparkling surface, so strange from underneath. Sun light dancing along the waves. Filtered and warped so that it makes interesting patterns across the surface. My favorite place is Chelan, with it's numbing cold water. So dark and clear. Diving in and going deeper, deeper. the world seems different here. No impending problems, no stress just calm. Fish might swim by, bass or pike minnows. Arms in front of me, my legs together and I propel myself where I want to go. My kick starts in my shoulders, a ripple that travels across my entire body ending with the final flick of my feet.

When I was very young, I wanted to have and ride a dirtbike more than anything. I began to learn, once big enough, to ride my dad's bike. A 1997 Honda XR250. It soon broke. Then I worked all summer and bought my own. A green Kawasaki. Riding with my friends Sawyer and Austin at Cherry Valley on a rainy day. I need some help fixing my bike. Who knows a lot about dirtbikes? A guy named Joey Keating. I went to his house and we worked on my dirtbike, soon to become best friends. Riding with my friends Joey and Tag on a sunny day once again, at Cherry valley. Who's this walking towards us? A creepy crackhead named James, who needed us to use Joeys truck to pull him out of the mud he got stuck in the previous night. Boom, there goes a full day of dirtbiking. Well, at least he offered me a sip of his Hawaiian punch. Later in the day, i'm driving to work, and what the hell!? James is driving in front of me on my way to Monroe. Damn, my parents tell me I can't dirtbike because of my grades. Well, that sucks, considering I just sold my bike and now I can't buy a new one. Better go buy one anyways!! I bought Tag's dirtbike and hid it at Joeys for a few weeks, until my dad saw it one afternoon, when coming to pick me up after work. Big trouble. Well, Roberto wants to sell me a bike for $200? Why not. Better take it to Cle Elum and ride with my girlfriend Katie. Two days later, I'm riding in Leavenworth with Joey, Jake, and Sawyer. Now I have two dirtbikes, which i'm not allowed to ride unless I sneak them out, which I have been caught doing on multiple occasions, or somehow convince my parents to let me ride them. The End.

I have spent more than 700 hours of my life trapped in the sky, flying over our world. My family is big on traveling and so am I. I probably hate airplanes more than anything else in the world. They're uncomfortable, boring, loud, and just annoying. However I love absolutely love traveling. Being to new places, seeing family, and just getting to experience how other people live their lives so much differently from us makes me really happy. My family flies to Florida twice a year to meet up with other family. We all share a house right in downtown Orlando so I get to do things like go to Disney world and universal studios every year, and although it gets boring after a while ill always love the memories made in Florida. Every other summer I get to fly to Lebanon to see my dads side of the family. Although the 15 hour flight is ridiculous, its definitely worth it. My family has also been to Peru, London, Paris, Germany, Turkey, Hawaii, Mexico, and many other wonderful places. I hope as my life continues I get to see many more places around the world and make great memories.

ReplyDeleteArt.
There is art everywhere. Anything that is made is a form of art. Someone had to come up with the idea in their mind. Someone had to design it, and make it. A piece of furniture, a building, clothes or a christmas card are all forms of art. Many people are too narrow-minded about art. Especially when it comes to modern art. People look at a piece of art and say well I could easily have made that. I always say back, but you didn’t. Even though certain pieces of art can be rather simplistic and could easily be drawn and painted by anyone, it is the artist’s original idea. This summer I went to Paris and went to my favorite museum, Musee de l'orangerie. This museum contains Claude Monet’s huge lily pond paintings. I absolutely love the impressionist style of Monet, messy up close and put together far away. While I was at the museum admiring these amazing paintings I overheard someone say Monet has no talent, these are just giant blobs of paint. This made me upset. Yes these paintings may of blobs of paint but they are blobs of paint overlapped and put together in a certain way that creates a beautiful picutre, and that takes artistic talent. I think that people should be more open-minded about art because every artist is unique and gifted by what they have created.

Drag racing. As a young kid I remember going to the race track every Wednesday night with my dad. Once we got there we had to unload the car and get the gear out. After doing this for like 6 summers. I loved the sport and wanted to build my own car like my dad. I found a car for 350$ and pulled it out of the blackberry bushes with the truck. Out came a very rusty 74 Plymouth Duster. The car had been sitting for over 13 years. Once we got it home, we started to take it a part and realized it was the biggest piece of crap ever. So after 2 1/2 years of building the car I ended up with an awesome racecar that's kinda street legal and a blast at the track. The car is something that I will have forever and always remember building it with my dad. Everything about the car has been changed or modified for racing. The body and even chassis have been cut and changed. Many people say that I should sell the car because it would yield for a large profit. But I would never sell it because, off the experience and time my dad and I put in it. Now I can enjoy going to the track with my own truck, car and trailer and spend a whole day there.

Everyone wants to do it. Everyone thinks they do it. But in reality, going through mud isn't wheeling... Its mudding... There's a difference between taking a stock truck through a mud whole and having a built truck bouncing and smashing up a steep trail. Nobody gets it. Everyone thinks its stupid and retarded to have a built truck to just go up a trail. Theirs a special type of person that only can appreciate the time and money put into a truck just to get up a steep trail or over the next rock. High School
One of the most insignificant parts of your life. And probably the most overrated. Yet at the time, it seems like the most important. It seems like you need everyone to like you. Everyone cares about what others think of them. In reality, you don't even like the people you're trying to impress. All those hours getting up early, putting on make-up and doing your hair are really for nothing. In a short 3 years, you won't see 98% of these people that you call your 'best friends'. High school is such a big deal to so many people. I really don't understand why. Let's be honest, people who are super into high school tend to be the most immature. But then again, that's how you make it in high school. Immaturity is key. I can't wait for our 10-20 year reunion to see where everyone's life has gone. Especially those who peaked in high school.

Llamas. For some unknown reason, one of my favorite animals. They spit as a defense mechanism. I don't understand why that draws me to them. The ugly cousins of alpacas. With their offset jaws and unaligned teeth. Their wool has no value, unlike that of their cousin, the alpaca. An unusual farm animal, that doesn't receive the credit it deserves. How long are their lifespans? Are most llamas’ that off-white cream, or is there a greater variety? The largest role a llama has had in Hollywood, was in the movie Napoleon Dynamite. Tina was the star’s name. The giraffes of the farm world. What is their purpose on a farm? The national animal of Peru. They live a simple life of eating, sleeping and wandering. The first time I came face to face with one was in Chelan. Since then, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for them.

I just heard a song with lyrics that went, 'I am gonna make it through this year if it kills me'. That's a good attitude, but what did he mean? Don't be mean. Be nice or leave. Does anything we do have a purpose? Then there's the topic of how we got here. I'm a skeptic of the big bang and of the Christian creation story. I like to think something was always here. And I say I like to think, but I've really only considered it just now. I've always been a believer in evolution. Even though I'm part Christian, I find it hard to believe in the Bible. In Mexico, we met a man named Paul. Paul wasn't our favorite but we learned to live with it because he has a nice house. We thought we could lock him out but then we realized he had the key. Russ took lots of pictures, and I keep them on my wall. I remember the day and the things we did, but they are fading. I go back there in my mind to Ginger Ninja's to find happiness. They sang of peace and love, but Echo lost the love. This film was cool, but the other was not. Bad luck, we had, we picked the wrong show. Paul saw the scary one in the bathroom, but we didn't go because Paul went alone. We biked to a cemetery, Mr. Miller would be proud of our cultural experience. We don't like resorts, we like Mexico. There are two girls. One is four years old the other is seven years old. There is always a lot of fighting between the two. I always have the joy of hearing potty mouth and name-calling. Both are really silly and hilarious to watch. Once, the four-year-old was squeezing her finger while waiting for me to make dinner. She then started to cry and said that it hurt whenever she squeezed her finger, and she was still squeezing her finger. I then told both of them that if you squeeze too long, your finger would die and fall off. Surprisingly they didn’t even bat an eye at that statement, they were just really curious. The older girl is extremely curious. Asking me, “What’s that?” pretty much every time I say something to her. But it’s fun to describe the world to her. I get to see the naïve mind of a child, which always brings memories of what I used to think when I was seven. Both have different personalities. The younger one loves to make up stories, in which the older sister completely denies.

Music
My mind goes blank as I get in the car. No more thoughts, no more stress, just music. Step one: turn on the stereo. Step two: turn the volume all the way up. Step three: drive. As I drive with the music playing through the speaker, through my soul, life becomes a little less hectic. It is relaxing. It is soothing, until I arrive home. Then what? Walk into my room. Step one: turn the speaker on. Step two: plug phone in. Step three: press play and let the world fade away. Suddenly everything isn't as bad as it seems. Homework isn't a pain, studying is enjoyable, and the atmosphere is relaxing. My mood in a better state. A procedure that I don't think much of, but without the melody and words in the background of my jumbled life I would crumble.

Dance
Dancing is about escaping from the rest of the world. It’s about letting go of all your frustration. It’s about trusting and believing in yourself. Learning something new in every class. Practicing over and over until near perfection. Never getting tired of the same choreography you've known forever. Working class after class for just three short minutes on stage. After class, driving home late at night with all the windows down because of sweating so much, even though it’s freezing outside. You don’t even mind, because you’re still so focused on the rush of being in that room, the one with the mirrors, the stereo, the vast dance floor. You feel like you can go anywhere or do anything, even just in that small room or on stage. You’re gliding, flying. Nothing can touch you. It’s hard to explain the feeling unless you’ve had that experience. It seems so simple. All it really is, is some dance moves put together to music. But it feels like so much more than that.

I put my wool socks on, and as many layers of jackets on that i can find. I start the truck, and load the dogs up in the kennel. We drive, and drive through the rain and the dark. The headlights are so bright, and im the only car on the road. I pull into a gravel road, and weave my way through cows and gates. I put the truck in park, and walk through the cold mud with the dogs. The fog is not even close to clearing, its just settling. I put the decoys out, and i hide in the blind. I sit there. Waiting, waiting and waiting. I put my shells in front of me. I practice my duck calls. Hunting has opened. The sound is so silent. Everyone is asleep. Its like im the only one in the world. I hear the ducks, as they are set to land. They come in so quietly, and their wings flapping is like a whisper in the wind. Such a quiet sound, interrupted with such a loud bang.

Family
My family of five. Two sisters no brothers. My mom and dad, Jodie and Craig. I'm so close with my two sisters and I wouldn't know what I would do without them. Kaitlyn and Kelsey are always their for me. Despite each of us being three years apart we remain so close. I'm the youngest. We are growing up too fast. I feel like we should all still be at home, watching movies and going shopping. As we grow older things aren't how they used to be. I see them less, but it makes the time we spend together more special. I look forward to holidays. I look forward to Kelsey's wedding. I'm excited to be a bridesmaid. I love my sisters because they are my best friends. I love my family. My mom and dad have always supported me in the things I do. If I didn't have such an amazing family who knows what I would be like today.

ReplyDeleteBasketball
I'm addicted to basketball. I play every single day and when I'm not playing I'm watching it on TV or thinking about it. I can honestly say that I think about basketball 24/7. It's one of those things that I don't know what I would do without. When I had a bad day or I'm stressed out I go and shoot hoops and I automatically feel better. When I'm playing basketball I feel at peace and calm. When I have a basketball in my hands all the problems in the world and all the things that are going on around me dissapear. For those 32 minutes I'm free. The only thing that I'm worried about is how me and my team are gonna beat the other team. But as soon as that buzzer sounds it's back to reality. I never want it to end. I think that's why I play basketball so much. It's my way of escaping reality and getting away from the craziness that is happening in this world. If I could play basketball all day every day I would. I don't think I will ever stop playing or watching basketball. Ball Is Life!!

Swimming. Ever since I was 7, I have been swimming competitively but at the moment I find myself in a crisis because I don’t know if I will be able to continue the sport in college. I have been swimming for most of life and being uncertain of whether I’ll be able to continue is unsettling. I know that all good things have to come to an end but I’m not necessarily the type of person to accept that. So currently I am trying my hardest to get into a school with a swim program but academics is far more important of course. I am also training a lot harder this year because I have a goal of making it to junior nationals which would allow me to get into certain universities a lot easier. And by training harder I also hope to get first in the state when high school swimming comes around. I really can’t wait for high school swimming because the mood of competitions are so much different. I guess the reasoning behind that is that not everyone is there to compete but to have a good time which I really appreciate. I am also looking forward to being able to be captain this year and the responsibilities that go a long with it. I also recently accepted more responsibilities in my club team by becoming the athlete representative to Washington. Yesterday as a representative, I had a meeting that I had to attend and it was just super boring because the organization was listing their finances and stuff and it just sucked. But the organization wanted the athlete representatives to join some committees so that we have more power and say in our sport which I do appreciate. I really want to have an impact on my community and I feel as if this is the way I may be able to do it.

ReplyDeleteEnglish Class
Wake up at 7 o'clock. Go to school. Worse possible way to start a day. To make matters worse my least favorite class of the day has to be right before my favorite. Fourth period English right before lunch. It gives me indigestion. I arrive to class five minutes late. Sit in my chair closest to the door. And stare at the clock until it reads 11:24. Lunch time. I have no clue how I make it each day. I feel like it drains a part out of me. And that part is replaced with plays and music written and performed by people I didn't even know existed. Now I'm not known for my knowledge of the performing arts. But by the end of the year I have a feeling I'm going to be an opera lover just like my teacher.

Sunday night blogs. I'm too tired for this. Glade I didn't forget. I
need food right now. My dog needs to go out. Great I left my
sweatshirt in the car. Now I'm soaking wet. Choose not to wear shoes.
Socks wet. Yes, my hot pocket is done. Ouch I burnt my tongue. can
take the pain anymore. crying, crying, crying. Pain is gone. Still too
tired for this. cant think of anything to write about. Schindler
should write blogs too. Then I would be more motivated to do the blogs
earlier. Actually no Id still wait tell the last minute to do them. I
wonder if Schindler knows theirs a movie named after him. I cant think
of anything else to write about. So I will randomly write things that
pop into my head. I guess that's what the assignment is then. I've had 4
cups of coffee today. I might be the first person ever to OD on
coffee. How lame would that be. Almost at 15 lines just need a few
more sentience's and then I'm done with this. If only theirs was
something else I Could think of to write about.

School
Waking up way too early. Trying not to be late. Going to math. Couldn't pay attention if I tried. Health is so boring. Doing homework I forgot about. Finally options. 20 minutes is not long enough. Tired. Bored. When can I go home. 4th and 5th period in the same room. 2nd lunch is lame. What the heck is going on in Bio. Finally home, nap time.

Baseball season is over. Mariners are done playing. To bad they didn't make the playoffs (again). Now its football season. Seahawks and Huskies are what matters in Seattle sports. Seahawks are 4-0 after today. Huskies are also 4-0. That makes them a combined 8-0. I dont think that has ever happened before. I hope the huskies make it to a important bowl game this year. Who knows maybe the seahawks will end up in the superbowl again. After football comes basketball. Unfortunately the Sonics aren't in Seattle anymore. We have to deal with underwhelming Washington state and University of Washington college basketball teams. Then it all starts over again. I hope a seattle team wins a national title this year.

ReplyDeleteFootball.
Its the love of my life.
I couldnt imagine life without it.
It makes me who I am
Football IS my life.
I love getting butterflies before games.
I love the feeling of winning.
It teaches you how to be a man.
It Creates a unbreakable brotherhood.
It makes me feel like my life has meaning.
It is what calms me down, gets me excited, makes me think, and makes me forget about everything all at the same time.
My love and respect for football can not be put into words.

ReplyDeleteBaseball. Arod. Steroid use of the 1990s and how ruined baseball for many people. Cheating in sports in general. Blood doping in cycling. Lance Armstrong. Testicular cancer is a bad thing. I wonder if Lance got it from riding his bike too much. Tour de France. One of the major cycling races in the world. Very prestigious and it was a shame to hear that Lance cheated and won this race from his blood doping. Jose Conseco used steroids and denied it in court under oath. Wrote a book and stated who was doing steroids in the 90s. Mark Miguire was his work out buddy and did steroids with him. Never admitted it until later. Guilt caught up with him.

Wake up at 4:30 in the morning. Drive to swim practice without falling asleep. Get out of the pool and ready for school in half an hour, not to mention getting to school on time without speeding. Go to first period class, try not to fall asleep again. Then it's second period. Only one more hour until that amazing 15 minute break where you can finally eat your breakfast. Then it's third period, my last class at Woodinville for the day. The class seems to drag on and on as I watch the clock until it finally reaches 10:26. Then I'm out the door running to my car in order to be on time for my next class which is at Bellevue college, a half hour away. My sociology class is on Mondays and Wednesdays, or is that my music production class? Which class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays?? What day is it anyways? I barely make it to class, breathless from running down the stairs of the parking garage and throughout the campus, desperate to get there on time. Finally, school is over for the day and I can take my much needed nap before starting on my giant pile of homework that sits in front of me. But wait, I have chores and swim meets and doctor appointments that I need to go to first. And then tomorrow I get to repeat this all over again. It never stops.

ReplyDeleteBurritos
Saying that burritos are my favorite food is the understatement of the century. I make my own from scratch, heat up frozen ones, eat them from Mexican restaurants, eat them from Taco Time, but I refuse to eat them from Taco Bell. Lo siento pero no yo quiero Taco Bell. There are so many different kinds, there are chicken, beef, and bean. My favorite is bean. I have eaten them for as long as I can remember. I don't know how I'm not 340 pounds. Some days I go home and eat two. It is the perfect thing to eat on a deserted island because they have protein, fiber, whole grains, and maybe even sometimes vegetables. Healthy, huh? Should I stop eating them? NO. What type of silly question was that? I guess sometimes I wonder if my metabolism will start to slow down, but I don't really care because I will just eat a burrito and forget what I was just thinking about. Every time I eat one, it is like it is the first time and my mind just goes to its happy place. I'm hungry. Burritos, I'm coming for you!

ReplyDeleteStandards
Standards, you use them every day without even thinking; whenever you speak, use a phone, or use a computer. As a human language is the most relatable form of standards, people using words to convey ideas and thoughts; we do this every day without really thinking how other people can understand what we are saying. The easy answer to this is we were taught but that’s not the whole story. At one point or another there were a group of people who agreed on what meant what in each language creating a standard. Language as with any other standard evolves to better convey ideas over time eventually combining with other languages to form a larger more widely used language.
IP, and GSM are another well used forms of standards that people indirectly used every day. Like all other standards there were a larger amount of them at one point that later dissolved in to one forming the “protocols” or languages of everything today. Most widely used standards take hundreds of years to consolidate into one with exception to a couple few like IP which was the quickest standard to be adopted worldwide, astonishingly adopted within 50 years. Standards are all around us, ever evolving making our lives easier than any of us can truly imagine.

ReplyDeleteConcerts
There are big venues and small venues. But I don't know which ones I like better. Do I like the floor or the seats? I just like being there. Outdoor, or indoor, I think indoor is more intimate. It's better if you know the band really well, because you'll enjoy the concert more. My favorite concert though was Kings of Leon at the Gorge. Perfect temperature, great company, insane vocals, and an overall good time. 30 Seconds to Mars at the Paramount was a close second though. They played with such passion, it was amazing. To see the artist's passion be communicated through their music live is one of the best experiences. I'm lucky to have a mom that loves concerts because there's no way I'd be able to go to as many as I do without her.

ReplyDeleteI am sick. Still, i should the homework. This sucks because i had finished half of this blog when my power went out. Now i'm finally finding the time to do it. What are the chances that you finally convince yourself to do homework and when you give in, the power just goes Nope and shuts off. I mean seriously, of all the bad luck of course this happens to me. Oh well i'm getting back to typing now. But it still sucks being sick. I remember the elementary and junior high school days where i would fake being sick to get out of school. Now i run through the benefits and repercussions of missing a day of school even when i feel horrible. Maybe that's just me actually starting to grow up. I never really thought i would have a moment like this where i just think back to my younger days. Why can 't i stop thinking about this? I'm only 18 and have all of senior year ahead of me. I feel so young, yet at the same time i'm almost done with high school...

ReplyDeleteCats. I have three cats. Two eight year old black males and one four year old tabby. The tabby was a recent addition since my step brother's mother decided to get rid of the cat. The two black cats, Tigger and Pearl, are not adjusting well to the new kitty. I think of my cats as people because I volunteer at petsmart for the cats and none of those cats seem to have the persona of mine. Pearl was adopted as a she, but quickly realized was actually a he. However, my family just says that Pearl identifies as a female and still calls her a her. She's pretty lazy and acts like royalty, announcing her presence everytime she enters a new room. Tigger is our little investigator, always inspecting the scene of a crime. He's pretty short tempered and holds grudges like no other, but he can be quite sweet when he wants to be. Luna, the new addition, is a bit unknown. She is still a bit reserved. Overall, I think we have quite the household of personalities.
Always waiting on the last day to do my homework. Why homework? I don't know but it surely does suck. I play music and do homework and the same time, just to make homework not as boring.

Being tired. It kinda stinks. But I do some of my best writing when I'm tired. It's actually quite odd. But it's hard to focus. There are so many other things in this world. I love getting side tracked. You notice things you never usually do. Or perhaps you remember things long forgotten. Like pokemon! Lugia is awesome. God I am such a geek. Geeks are cool. We have tons of fun and don't care about anything else. I like having fun. I like writing too. So Writing is fun. And so we come full circle. Ain't that odd. And now I remember that I'm tired.
